When choosing materials, it's important to avoid materials that are too soft or too hard. Too soft, and the car will have excessive camber during cornering, reducing the tire's contact patch with the ground; too hard, and the tires won't maintain good contact with the ground, reducing handling.

 

Furthermore, sway bar modifications must be targeted. Different car models have different steering characteristics, which can be compensated for by adding front and rear anti-roll bars. The vehicle's suspension system can also be readjusted and modified according to personal preferences.

 

For example, in a MacPherson strut independent suspension, the sway bar connects the shock absorber and the anti-roll bar. During normal straight-line driving or wheel bounce, the sway bar can handle the situation without stress on the anti-roll bar. However, when the vehicle is cornering, the angle between the sway bar and the anti-roll bar changes, and the anti-roll bar takes effect, allowing the car to corner smoothly. After modifying the shock absorber, the shock absorber travel is shortened, and the angle between the sway bar and the anti-roll bar changes, which may affect the anti-roll bar's function and require angle correction. However, some aftermarket shock absorber products have already considered this issue during development and may not require replacing the sway bar. For double wishbone suspensions or other suspension types, the sway bar's fixed position is different, but the principle is similar; whether or not to modify it depends on the actual situation.
