A control arm, also known as a swing arm or suspension arm, is a core load-bearing and guiding component of a car's suspension system. It is typically A-shaped, L-shaped, or wedge-shaped, hinged to the steering knuckle (wheel bearing housing) via a ball joint (or ball hinge), and elastically connected to the subframe or body via rubber or hydraulic bushings. Its main functions include: supporting and positioning the wheels, transmitting longitudinal, lateral, and vertical forces from the wheels, absorbing road impacts and vibrations to optimize tire contact with the ground, and working in conjunction with the suspension system to maintain the vehicle's dynamic balance.
